Yo!

Listen to this episode where we list 9 things that may be causing your prayers to be unanswered!

Have you ever prayed and prayed about something, and it just hasn’t come to pass? You know you’re praying something that is within God’s will, it’s not evil or wicked, and you’ve maybe even seen it come to pass for others. So why isn’t your prayer being answered? God’s Word actually gives us a few reasons why our prayers may not be answered. Obviously, this is not an all inclusive list, and you must ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what may be blocking an answer. However, the Word says that God’s people perish due to a lack of knowledge. Knowing what God has told us about who He listens to can at least guide us to make certain changes, and do what pleases Him. Check out this list and move closer to getting your prayers answered!

List: 9 Things That Hinder Your Prayers

#1) Pride
In Job 35, it says God does not hear the prayers of the proud, He calls them empty pleas, and He does not pay any attention to it.
In James 4:6, it says that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble

#2) Doubt
In James 1:5-,8 it says for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

#3) Being evil in word or deed (edited)
1 Peter 3, it says “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

#4) Family discord. Household strife.
In 1 Peter 3, it says “Husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

#5) Regarding iniquity in the heart
In James 5, it says “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
In Psalm 66:1, David says “If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened”

#6) Unforgiveness
Proverbs 15:29 says – “God hears the prayer of the righteous”
In order for us to be seen as righteous, we must be forgiven.
In Matthew 6, it says “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”

#7) selfish desires
In James 4:3, it says “And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.”

#8) Being unloving
1 John 3:22 says “and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and we should love one another just as He commanded us”

#9) Deliberately living in sin
To live in sin deliberately is to live as if you have no fear or regard of the judgement of God.
In Proverbs 1:28-29, it says “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me, 29 Because they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of the Lord.
